Resonance

Resonance

Inspired by the invention of physicist Ernst Chladni revealing the modes of vibrations on a planar object, “Resonance” is a sculptural portrayal of sound. Referring to a specific Chladni plate pattern, steel sheet metal squares were individually scored and hammered, then folded along the creases into three-dimensional forms. Like Chladni plates themselves when combined with frequencies, variations of pattern are created by different arrangements, perspectives, and interactions with light.

“Resonance” is a visual representation of the invisible, directing focus to the effects of the unseen as evidence of their reality.
